Karrimor Weathertite was initially a cycle bag manufacturer primarily selling their products through their own cycle shop in Rossendale. By the end of the 1960's, with rising car ownership and their sales dropping by two-thirds, the company realised it needed a new market. The market it identified was rucksacks! Within a decade, Karrimor had gained 80% of the UK rucksack market, principally by developing new designs and using new materials.

To this day, Karrimor remain one of the leading rucksack brands, especially within the UK.
