Supreme carrying comfort, similar in feel to the old Anteus and Akamus rucksacks. Some users will prefer the more stable on the back feel it has & it will carry just enough equipment for a single overnight wild-camp. Perfect. Small and compact enough to really walk with on a long day (or 2-day wild jaunt), but with a sufficiently strong frame and harness to let it do some of the work for you. In my opinion, better in its 45l plus 8 format than its 60/65l plus 10 guise.

I purchased a Berhgaus Verden 45 + 8 for a backpacking trip around Europe and I must say I made the right choice. Size: 45 Litres is perfect size for any backpacker. If you have a tent you still have room for all your other equipment and if you don't have a tent you have plenty of room for whatever else you want to bring on your trip. Weight: The bag is very light, I was surprised looking at the size which is great if your carrying it around all the time. Storage: The Verden has 2 side pockets and a lid for storing smaller items. Inside the main pouch there is an extendible pouch for up to a 3L hydration reservoir (water bottle) and there is a small covered hole in the top side of the pack to bring the straw through (very handy). The main backpack comes with a section at the bottom which is accessible from the front of the pack. You can keep this separate from the main pack with a zip divider for easy action to waterproofs etc or you can remove the divider and extend the main pack if you happen to be carrying a large tent. There is also a small front zippable pocket perfect for a map & compass, and at the side of this pocket is your walking pole holders. Comfort: With the biofit back that gives air to your back while walking, the thick padded straps and the adjustable back system this backpack is amazingly comfortable even when fully loaded. Other: The waterproof cover that comes with it is excellent, it is a silver colour and fits easily over the backpack. It has a drawstring to fit it more securely around the pack while your walking. Downsides: None that I have seen! However I would recommend you take a small 5-10L day pack inside your backpack, that way you can leave your backpack in a hostel or a locker somewhere and just carry around the essentials. This may be a comfortable light pack however its much easier to only carry a smaller pack when sightseeing etc.
