Customer reviews

The Microlight jacket is one of those deceptive jackets that gives so much warmth for its weight. You will hardly notice it is on in terms of weight, but it will keep you warm even with just a base layer, or lightweight fleece or t shirt underneath. The jacket has mini stitch narrow baffle construction which stabilises the down. Weighing in at 410 grams (14 oz) this really fits a bit like micro engineering. The jacket has a good hem draw cord to cinch out the wind. Its construction is water resistant Pertex Microlight outer fabric with 750 fill power European Goose Down which is lightweight, packable and windproof. Rab use Hydrophobic Down which was good news as the jacket survived a reasonable downpour and retained its loft. Although the jacket is not waterproof it does dry very quickly for a down jacket. The Rab Microlight jacket is everything you would expect from Rab. Well-made and excellent performance wise. What makes this purchase particularly good is the fantastic price and super-fast delivery from Outdoorkit. This is my fourth purchase on this site. In summary the Rab Microlight and Outdoorkit easily ticks both quality and cost boxes.

I am a chunky fella with a 48 inch chest and find that some feather filled jackets just make me look like a ridiculous Michelin man. For years I have sought something sleeker but that would offer good practical insulation. I was therefore very delighted to discover this new kit from Rab and wanted to try this microlight jacket. Upon doing so there was no hesitation in my mind, it did not go back to the hanger but rather to the till.

So far my testing as included it been worn on top of a T-shirt, under a jacket in temperatures of -5 but I am guess I can temp more reduction in chill factor with this beauty. The operative word is toasty. Indeed it is very toasty but without making me sweat! I find the insulation to be quite natural as it offers a free form of movement with wearing. The lower back cover is excellent as is the chimney neck. I also like the way it can compresses down to a small pack size. This is going to be an item which I will keep with me on all my travels. I am not the sentimental type, but I am falling in love with this quality item. Well done Rab.

Bought this jacket for the cold weather that was coming in and I'm so glad I did. It's light and warm, going to buy my girlfriend one so i can have mine back!

Won its way into a lightweight backpack for ski touring in Norway. Invaluable for hunkering down behind a boulder on a thermos stop and for being smug in the mountain huts of an evening. Compact enough for a shell over if needed. Excellent bit of kit.
