Mountain Hardwear Men's Monkey Man Jacket

Buy this jacket. If you are looking for a midweight general purpose fleece that you can wear anywhere, look no further. I searched high and low for such a jacket and this is the best piece of clothing I have ever owned. I tried North Face etc, (alas Lowe Alpine stopped making their superb Aleutian type fleeces some time ago) but I've never found anything like this Mountain Hardware product. MH make other great products too! So this jacket is so very soft and comfortable, yet it really does the job and it looks great (I have the shark-black colour). You can wear it outside in the country, down the town, out socialising, in the house, in the car. Don't underestimate the value of that Napoleon chest pocket - you can put stuff in without having to open the jacket and loose warmth. (It won't take an OS map, but that should go in your outer shell). That chest pocket and the two side pockets all have zips - which is essential for active use. I've had my jacket for 12 months now and I can't recommend this product more highly. Buy it! Mountain Hardware - keep making this winner. But try making it in other colours too, e.g. dark green and brown.

I bought the Monkey Phur and North Face version 18 months ago. No comparison, Monkey Phur gets used 99.9% of the time. As stated in previous review this jacket is not wind proof and requires a shell. I use it with North Face Prophet Gore Tex Paclite shell and only wear a t-shirt under as it keeps you incredibly warm. Definitely recommend this jacket.

Had my monkey man jacket for over 18 months now and it is just fantastic! Hardly take it off in the cold weather as it's so warm and comfortable to wear. I even use it in the house and have had to turn the heating off not down! Had to buy the fiancée one as she was getting cold in the house but the money saved in fuel bills paid for the monkey jacket many times over. It's not wind proof at all so needs a shell, I use a Mountain Equipment Kongur Jacket and have never been cold or wet even in the recent return of the ice age. The jacket has proved durable and lost none of it looks or performance even with heavy use. Highly recommended!
